Global Warming: How does it affect the water with lobstering

Q1. Does the temperature of the water affect the taste of the lobster meat?

The temperature of the water will affect the lobster as lobsters are primary cold blooded, their body temperature is determined by the water temperature. For example lobster are likely to move toward higher latitudes or to areas cooled by tidal mixing.

Warming temperatures increase the lobster’s respiration rate and oxygen needs while reducing the amount of the amount of dissolved oxygen available. Research has found that as water temperature rise above 69 degrees, the lobsters respiratoin rate increases to a point where their demand for oxygen exceeds the supply which cause physiological stress

The temperature does affect the lobster but it does not affect the taste of the lobster.

Q2. Where are the places where lobsters are affected

The lobster habitats range from Long Island and northern New Jersey to the mouth of the Bay of Fundy in Canada, Lobster where the waters their are starting to warm up. For example lobsters are likely to move toward higher latitudes or to areas cooled by tidal mixing. In New England, for example, such populations will move north toward the Bay of Fundy

Q3. How are lobstermen affect by global warming

One of the things that affect the lobstermen is the temperature, this is because their are some hot days which irritates the lobstermen because the lobster men have to wear their suits to work in and it can be a hot and sweaty experience, also since people are going for the cod fish, the lobster industry have been going down since nobody buys lobster because of the prices.
